Beaches flooded as temperatures rise in Malta

As Malta’s temperatures seem to be ever on the increase as Summer draws nearer, people have utilised the advent of Freedom’s Day to take to the beaches and cool off. The public holiday seemed to grant people a day of sunny, not to mention hot, weather and the opportunity was seized for a swim by many.

It is however important to remember that health measures are still in place as a long weekend for many approaches. People can only be in groups of 2, unless they are from the same household. These health measures were put in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It does seem nonetheless that the measures are bing adhered to as daily cases have dropped beneath 50.

The show centred around the innocent Morty Smith and his dimension hopping grandfather Rick Sanchez has continuously proven to be a hit series with its crude humour and sci-fi adventures that leave viewers baffled.

Judging from the trailer, the fifth season seems to include the whole Smith family more prominently. Thankfully, fans did not have to wait for around two years to receive another season as what happened between seasons 2 and 3. Fans can only wonder what season 5 will bring to the table as the dynamic duo and the rest of the family get up to no good.

Health Minister Chris Fearne has announced that as of today, 1 out of 3 adults have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Today also marks Malta’s Freedom Day, and thus Fearne calls it a Freedom Day with a difference as we continue to combat the pandemic with jabs and health measures.

Today also sees the implementation of the new measure which states that only groups of 2 people can be in public, unless they are coming from the same household. Malta has reached a new milestone as new COVID-19 cases overnight have amounted to 40. The last time Malta saw daily number of cases below 50 was December 15th 2020 with 49 cases. Today’s report has announced exactly 40 new cases.

Could this be the light at the end of the dreadful tunnel that is the COVID-19 pandemic? It does show that measures put in place, along with the vaccine rollout have been effective in mitigating the spread. It is vital for the public to continue to adhere to the health measures, so that the numbers continue to drop and we may finally be free of COVID-19 once and for all.
