HMD (Human Mobile Devices) has launched a nostalgic Barbie Flip Phone, bringing the Barbie lifestyle to life in a fun, retro way.

Unveiled on Wednesday, the phone is all about pink chic and simplicity. Designed in collaboration with Mattel, this device is perfect for those looking to limit screen time and take a break from the constant stream of social media.

The Barbie Flip Phone is equipped with the essential functions of a phone, such as calling and texting, but it lacks internet access and cannot install social media apps.

Instead, it offers fun surprises, like a “Hi Barbie” voice message when the device powers on. HMD describes it as “pink, chic, and sleek,” with a front mirror for touch-ups on the go.

Already available in the U.K. for £99 ($130.74), U.S. buyers will have to wait until October to get their hands on this stylish device.

The phone comes with a range of accessories, including replaceable covers, a pink battery, a pink USB Type-C charger, and a Barbie-style beaded phone strap. Buyers will also receive gem stickers, crystals, attachable charms, a cleaning cloth, and a setup guide to complete the package.

Decline in Condom Use Among Teenagers Raises Concerns

Decline in Condom Use Among Teenagers Raises Concerns
Aug 30 2024 Share

A recent study by WHO reveals a significant decline in condom use among sexually active 15-year-olds across various countries since 2014. According to the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey, 61% of boys and 57% of girls reported using a condom during their last sexual encounter. However, nearly one-third of adolescents did not use a condom, and some were unsure if protection was used. This marks a notable drop—nine percentage points for boys and six percentage points for girls—over the past eight years.

The data shows disparities between countries and regions. For instance, condom use among girls was lowest in Albania (24%) and highest in Serbia (81%), while boys’ condom use ranged from 43% in Sweden to 77% in Switzerland. Additionally, boys from wealthier families were 10% more likely to use condoms compared to those from low-affluence backgrounds.

Countries with higher gender equality also saw more frequent use of condoms and contraceptive pills. Despite efforts to promote safe sex, this continued decline poses a challenge for sexual health programs worldwide, with a clear need for targeted interventions to reverse the trend.

Weeks of investigations related to drug trafficking have yielded results, as two men were arrested at a residence in Msida. Following surveillance of a property that was allegedly being used for drug sales, the police managed to gain entry, despite the front door being barricaded from the inside with an iron structure.

Inside the apartment, the police found the two men along with three women. A search of the premises uncovered several packets containing substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin, ready for sale, along with other items related to drug trafficking.

During further searches, the police discovered a bag containing approximately 50 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, along with cash.

The individuals are currently being held in custody at the Police Headquarters in Floriana. The two men are expected to appear in court today at around 11:00 AM, before Magistrate Dr. Giannella Camilleri Busuttil LL.D.
