The Minister for Social and Affordable Housing, Roderick Galdes, and the Minister for Health and Active Aging, Jo Etienne Abela, inaugurated the Professor Albert Fenech Health Clinic in the Silvio Parnis Building in Siġġiewi.

In agreement between the two ministries, the clinic was named in memory of the late Professor Albert Fenech, a renowned cardiologist from Siġġiewi who served many patients with dedication over the years.

Minister Galdes emphasised that the government is not only providing secure and dignified social housing but is also pursuing a holistic social vision. He highlighted that this vision is now benefiting numerous families, including residents of the Silvio Parnis Building, a government social housing project, who can now access healthcare services at this new clinic located in the heart of Siġġiewi.

Minister Galdes expressed satisfaction that this project supports both the residents of the building and the wider Siġġiewi community, who now have access to high-quality healthcare at the clinic.

Minister Abela announced that the number of community clinics has increased to 30, noting that Malta’s health centres have seen approximately 600,000 visitors this year, with community clinics serving around 70,000 people. He emphasised that the clinics offer preventive care, including family medicine, speech and language therapy, podiatry, and physiotherapy.

The Siġġiewi clinic will serve around 10,000 residents and those in nearby areas. Minister Abela reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare at the community level, bringing services closer to the people.
