Ayrton Senna would have turned 61 today

Today would have marked one of Formula 1’s top talents Ayrton Senna’s 61st birthday. The Brazilian driver was immensely beloved and considered one of the world’s best drivers of all time by many, including German driver Gerhard Berger. Senna lost his life during the infamous Grand Prix of San Marino in 1994, where he only managed seven laps before crashing into a concrete wall at 218 km/h.

Senna was declared dead at 34, following Roland Ratzenberger who died during the qualifiers. Going down the history books of Formula 1 alongside big names such as Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna remains one of Formula 1’s most beloved racers.

50% of UK adult population vaccinated with first dose

On March 20th 2021, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that more than 50% of the UK’s adult population has received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is all part of the country’s plans to get all 32 million people in the top nine priority groups vaccinated by 15th of April.

Hancock excitedly tweeted about the achievement, expressing his delight at the impressive feat that is the gateway out of the pandemic.

More than two million people across the UK have received their second dose. Prime Minister Boris Johnson received his first jab yesterday, stating he did ‘not feel a thing’ as he got the vaccine.

Glen Vella wins first edition of Muzika Muzika

As Muzika Muzika brings its first edition to a close, singer and composer Glen Vella takes the first place title with the song ‘Harsa Biss’ by Philip Vella and Joe Julian Farrugia. Having started his singing career at age thirteen, Vella is well known for his representation of Malta in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘One Life’.

In second place was Christian Arding with ‘Ghajjejt Inhobb’ and in third place Kantera who interpreted L-Ewwel Jien. The judging panel consisted of 9 iconic Maltese musicians and singers as each competitor showcased their immense talents along with guest star Emma Muscat.

Simon Busuttil, Bernard Grech and more react to Keith Schembri charges

Former Chief of Staff for the Office of the Prime Minister Keith Schembri, along with 10 others, have been denied bail for charges of money laundering, fraud, corruption and more after pleading not guilty and Schembri will spend the night at the Corradino Correctional Facility.

Former PN leader and Secretary-General of the EPP Group in the European Parliament Simon Busuttil called today’s events, ‘a historic turning point for justice… and a resounding confirmation that Daphne was right’, going on to pledge the late Caruana Galizia that they are finishing what she started.

Daphne Caruana Galizia’s son Paul took to Twitter to reiterate the ironic nature of today’s events with regards to Keith Schembri’s charges.
