Today would have marked one of Formula 1’s top talents Ayrton Senna’s 61st birthday. The Brazilian driver was immensely beloved and considered one of the world’s best drivers of all time by many, including German driver Gerhard Berger. Senna lost his life during the infamous Grand Prix of San Marino in 1994, where he only managed seven laps before crashing into a concrete wall at 218 km/h.
Senna was declared dead at 34, following Roland Ratzenberger who died during the qualifiers. Going down the history books of Formula 1 alongside big names such as Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna remains one of Formula 1’s most beloved racers.
