‘Significant progress’ being made in Ukraine-Russia peace talks

The Financial Times have reported that Ukraine and Russia have made significant progress with regards to a 15-point peace plan as a reported ‘three people’ continue to negotiate.
The neutrality plan being proposed includes plans for a ceasefire and Russian withdrawal from Ukrainian territory on the condition that the city of Kyiv declares neutrality and accepts the conditional limit on its armed forces.
Senior advisor to president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mykhailo Podolyak, has stated that any deals on the table would have to involve Russian Federation troops leaving Ukrainian areas which have been chapter since the beginning of the Russian invasion last month – “specifically southern regions along the Azov and Black Seas, along with territory to the east and north of Kyiv.”
In a recent tweet, Podolyak also stated that Ukraine’s position is quite specific and includes legally verified security guarantees such as the ones mentioned above and is only possible through direct dialogue between the heads of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has stated that negotiations were ‘close to being agreed’ and neutral status and security guarantees were being discussed seriously.
