Argentine farmer grows crop in the image of Lionel Messi which is visible from space

Messi’s legacy continues to show in Argentina as a farmer in Cordoba has grown a specially-planted, 124-acre image of the World Cup-winning football star in his field.

Maximiliano Spinazze designed the image of Messi’s face by using an algorithm to calculate where seeds needed to be planted in his field of Los Condores. The darker areas are spots which have a higher density of seeds and thus, help to form the shape which is visible from space.

What emerged was 124-acres of greatness and a tribute to arguably one of the greatest football players of all time, hot of his country’s legendary World Cup victory in Qatar. ‘For me Messi is unbeatable,’ the farmer said as he attempted to explained the method to his manoeuvre.

While Argentina is mostly known for football is an export, its main export driver is actually farming, with Spinazze’s creative crop bringing the best of both worlds together.

Police deny Greta Thunberg’s arrest was staged after disinformation

German police have denied being ‘extra’s for Greta Thunberg’ after false claims started circulating that her detainment at a protest in west Germany was staged.

A post went viral falsely claiming that the climate activist being held by police was all set up for the media. Thunberg was seeking to stop the abandoned village of Lutzerath from being demolished for the expansion of a coal mine along with other activists.

With the video of her being removed by police gaining millions of views, a spokesperson for local police told BBC that the force would ‘never give ourselves to make such recordings.’

Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. We were kettled by police and then detained but were let go later that evening.

However, they added that it is important police enable reporting and guarantee the protection of media workers. Photographers and videographers can be seen moving around a held and smiling Greta as the police awaited taking the next steps.

“They had to wait for a couple of minutes before they could bring her to a certain police car,” said the spokesperson.

They added that “the whole situation has been used by those with political motives and the real reason is entirely practical and mundane.”

Many online also falsely claimed it was a “fake arrest” but police clarified that Ms Thunberg had not been arrested but had been briefly detained.

Man grievously injured after falling one storey on construction site

Police were informed this morning at around 1130hrs by Mater Dei hospital that a man had been hospitalised following an accident at a construction site in Triq San Ġużepp, Ħaż-Żabbar.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 57-year-old resident of Wied il-Għajn suffered grievous injuries after falling one storey from where he was working.

He visited the Health Centre from where he was transported to Mater Dei via ambulance. Magistrate Dr Joseph Mifsud LL.D was informed of the case and an inquiry was opened.

Police investigations are ongoing.
