Martin Agius’ Double Exposure Photography Works Exhibited At Wignacourt Museum

Sep 12 2024 Share

An ongoing photography exhibition by local photographer Martin Agius is currently on display at the Wignacourt Museum in Rabat.

On Friday, 6th September, at the Wignacourt Museum in Rabat, the exhibition was inaugurated by Martin Agius, who specializes in street photography. The project focuses on double exposures, where each photo complements the other.

This exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the last entry at 4:15 p.m. The exhibition will remain open until Sunday, 29th September.

In a statement, the renowned photojournalist revealed that this project first originated in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, stating  “The prevailing fear amongst people, led to desolate streets, crating a disheartening sight.”

His idea to create these photos with the double exposure effect came from the fact that there were no people on the streets and due to the fact that it was a long-standing aspiration of his.

To further make the works complex, Aguis decided to combine images from Malta with images he had taken in London before the pandemic.

As the world regained normality, Martin Aguis decided to add photos from even more places abroad such as Milan, Venice and Valencia and has aspirations to take his double exposure idea to more places outside of Malta.
