Legendary Irish DJ and broadcaster Annie Mac has released an official statement saying that she will be performing her last radio show  on BBC Radio 1 on 30th July 2021. Annie is particularly known for her contribution to dance music and up-and-coming artists as well as the AMP Lost & Found Festival which takes place annually in Malta, also being named Festival Ambassador of Malta in 2018. In her most recent post, she stated that she is leaving to spend time with her children who are both in school.

It’s time to tell you, my listeners, that after 17 years, my last show on BBC Radio 1 will take place on 30 July 2021….

She also said she likes the idea of leaving the party with a huge smile on her face, ‘when [she’s] still having the most fun’ she can. She did however state that she will return to radio broadcasting when the time is right. The radio icon thanked all the fans who tuned into her show and the management at BBC Radio 1 who supported her all the way throughout her journey.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to expand as Marvel has dropped the first trailer for their new hero’s debut film, Shang-Chi. Starring Simu Liu as the titular character, the film will be Marvel Studios’ first movie to feature a predominantly Asian cast.

Attentive fans will also remember ‘The Ten Rings’ being part of Iron Man 3. The organisation will feature in this new MCU entry, having trained the hero in his martial-arts related powers. Liu also said that ‘Shang-Chi’s story is very much unknown to most of the world, so we had a lot of freedom and creative liberty to make it the way that we wanted to.’ The film is set to release this September.

Malta will be launching the first ever national campaign on climate change. Environment Minister Aaron Farrugia is heralding #ClimateOn campaign, which is more than just awareness raising exercise about the dangers of climate change. The Minister said that ‘there is a need for tangible change towards a better quality life for everyone’.

The campaign is set to inform the public about the impacts of the very real threat we face in the 21st century. It will also encourage initiatives and projects that provide solutions aimed at reducing pollutions, public health threats, and environment and biodiversity loss. The Minister said that ‘the government cannot do this alone: citizens, businesses, industry, and all social groups have a part to play.’

Following PN Secretary General Francis Zammit Dimech’s confirmation that the PN is being targeted in a potential cyber attack, leaks of said attack have surfaced online with alarmingly threatening claims.

The suspected ‘cyber attackers’ have given the Nationalist Party 240 hours to communicate, threatening to ‘leak valuable company documents’ if they fail to cooperate.

They went on to reveal that they have ‘company financial data, salary payments, employees’ personal documents, banking, private client data, payment documents and much more.’

The Data Commissioner is reportedly investigating the situation at the moment and attempting to find out who is behind it as the PN have yet to reveal what steps they will be taking.
