‘All I Want For Christmas’ breaks Spotify single-day streaming record

Love it or hate, there’s really no avoiding Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas during the month of December and 26 years later, it’s still topping the charts.

The Christmas anthem has broken yet another Spotify streaming record with a whopping 17 million streams on Christmas day alone.

Looks like Carey’s Christmas banger is here to stay for years and years to come.

“Don’t risk losing everything” PM Robert Abela appeals for caution as vaccines arrive

As COVID-19 vaccines begin to arrive in Malta and the first Maltese receives a vaccine, Prime Minister Robert Abela stated that Malta is on the road to recovery.

While recent times may have been of “hope, courage and belief”, Abela appeals to the public to remain cautious, so we do not lose everything Malta has achieved over the past 10 months, calling the COVID-19 saga a “10-month marathon.”

Commending the respective authorities, the PM reported that the economic and health sectors have done well and reiterated that we will be receiving up to 20,000 vaccines a week on our road to recovery.

84 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 118 recoveries

Malta has registered 84 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,249 swab tests, while 118 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 33 cases were family members of previously known cases, 15 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 16 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases and 10 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 12,325 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 10,668 have recovered, 210 died and 1,447 are still active.

Gaming for a cause: in aid of Foodbank Lifeline Foundation

The holiday season often means a couple of days of gaming for many, but Velocity Esports Racing have teamed up with level academy to organise a mini F1 2020 Championship in aid of the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation.

In the tournament, participants will be split into groups to race in a series of 5 laps.
