‘All dogs deserve to live’ say Island Shelter Malta in reassuring post

‘All dogs deserve to live’ say Island Shelter Malta in reassuring post
Aug 18 2021 Share

The Island Sanctuary Malta posted to Facebook a much needed and calming post in light of warnings that Malta is heading towards kill shelters. After Animal Welfare Commissioner warned that due to Malta’s tendency to buy instead of adopting dogs the island might be headed towards the introduction of kill shelters, the sanctuary assured the public that this will not be the case with their organisation.

The sanctuary posted how their organisation was ‘founded on the principle that all dogs deserve to live.’ They revealed how they never put a dog to sleep to make room for another one and they never intend to. ‘This is the reason we are always full’ says the post as ‘We love our dogs like our own, and the loss of one of them is always cause for great sorrow.’ The post was met with much appreciation and support, commending the shelter’s dedication and care that goes into safeguarding and loving every single dog.

China announces themselves as Olympic champions

Aug 18 2021 Share

This year’s Olympics didn’t offer up any surprises when it came to the overall winners. USA won the most medals again after winning in the last two editions. Although, state media in China had different ideas as they proudly declared themselves as the winners of the Olympics, by adding Hong Kong’s, Macau’s and Taiwan’s medals to their tally.

This announcement led to a lot of criticism from people living in Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan as none of their populations identify with China’s communist ideologies. All would like to have their own independence but none can achieve emancipation from China, because of foreign relationships.

The Olympics have officially confirmed on their app and website that the USA have officially won the most medals at the Olympics. Who knows what can happen in Paris, after all anything is possible.

Sea turtles stop nesting on Maltese shores due to heat and noise pollution

Sea turtles stop nesting on Maltese shores due to heat and noise pollution

As climate change impacts all aspects of daily life with ever-increasing intensity, Malta’s environment activists have noted a clear absence of turtle nests on the island’s beaches. 2020’s summer reportedly had around 320 loggerhead turtles birthed on Maltese bays, but 2021 reported absolutely none. Nature Trust revealed on Facebook that the heat, coupled with incessant noise and bright lights do not help the situation.

There is very little left of summer 2021, with environmentalists losing hope of finding just one this year. According to Nature Trust, turtles stayed away due to the shift in the world’s climate as higher sea temperatures mean aquatic animals move towards cooler waters. With Malta smack in the middle of the Mediterranean, the turtles prefer other bays to birth their new hatchlings as Italy and Sicily both experienced an increase in turtle nests this year.
