Alberto Ginés López becomes first ever sport climbing Olympic gold medallist

Spain’s Alberto Ginés López broke Olympic history when he became the first ever athlete to win gold in sports climbing , sports climbing made its Olympic debut this year.

In sport climbing there are three events to define a winner. There is the speed, bouldering and lead rounds. A winner is then decided by multiplying every competitors final position in each round, and who has the lowest score wins. Alberto Ginés López came 1st in the speed round, 7th in the bouldering and 4th in the lead round. His scores gave him a combined score of 28 (1x4x7). In comparison, American Nathaniel Coleman came 2nd with a score of 30 ( 6x1x5).

 

The sport itself, did very well ratings wise because of its dramatic final. The sport certainly has a future in the Olympics and Alberto will be proud to be the first gold medallist.

Maltese-speaking scammers threaten with power cuts for 'bill payments', GO & Enemalta warn

Telecommunications company GO has issued a warning to Maltese citizens regarding scammers which have transitioned from scam text messages in English to calls in Maltese with individuals claiming to be Enemalta officials.

The company has reported receiving around four calls of individuals calling for the immediate settlement of a pending bill, going on to threaten to cut the power supply of the people on the receiving end.

The police has been notified of the situation, with Enemalta noting that the company only communicates with clients via freephone 8007 2224 and appealing to clients to remain vigilant in the face of such scams.

For privacy & security reasons, it is of utmost importance to never reveal personal information or bank details whilst on the phone.

Major changes to FIFA 22 career mode

The video game FIFA, is undoubtedly the best football video game out there in terms of sales. The fact that game boasts nearly every licensing available is a perk that not all football video games have. PES the direct competitor of FIFA have slowly been improving, improving their graphics, gameplay and getting many exclusive licenses of Europe’s biggest teams such as Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United.

EA this year have not only improved their online sector of the game, but also their offline sector with game modes like career mode getting massive upgrades. Fans of the game have been extremely unhappy in recent years with the treatment career mode was getting, as it was a mode that attracted many fans when the online side of FIFA wasn’t the strongest.

In this year’s career mode, an option to create your own club will be available. Whilst creating your club, you can also create your own kits and badge. Designing your own stadium will also be an option. A player can also decide where and which league their club will enter, whether it be with the big teams immediately or starting your way up from the lower leagues. Player career has also receive a massive upgrade. This year there will be more cut scenes including interactions in the players dressing room and press conferences. This year you can also start as a substitute and make your impact later on in the game, as well as that  more match objectives have been added.

2021 will mark the year where EA finally upgraded the offline sector of the game. Tag a friend who you think will play this year’s career mode!
