Airline Allows Women To Choose Not To Sit Near Men On Flights

Jul 26 2024 Share

A low-cost Indian airline has gone viral for becoming the first airline to give women the option to choose not to sit next to men on flights.

Starting from August, Indigo will give female travelers the ability to see where other women are sitting on the flight, with their seats being displayed in pink. Men will not be given the same information and will only see available seats.

“IndiGo is proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers,” a representative said.

IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost airline, will implement changes on all its flights starting August 2024. The airline operates 2,000 domestic and international flights daily.

The decision was brought about by a poll issued by Indigo, which asked females what would make their travel comfortable.

Design for the Rehabilitation Project of the Pinetum Garden in Floriana Published

Jul 26 2024 Share

he Ministry for the Environment, Energy, and Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, in collaboration with Project Green, has unveiled the design for the Pinetum Gardens rehabilitation project in Floriana. The relevant Planning Authority application has been submitted, marking a significant step toward revitalising this historic area.

Pinetum Gardens, located between Pietà, Pietà Creek, Haywharf, and Portes des Bombes, are known for their hilly terrain and historical significance. The project aims to preserve the area with minimal interventions, ensuring no harm to the natural environment through a detailed study of the ramparts. Spanning approximately 60,000 square metres, the project includes passages carved from the ground to minimise ecological impact. Walkways will be made of galvanised iron and will feature informational signs about the garden’s natural elements.

During a site visit, Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, Project Green CEO Joseph Cuschieri, and the Agency’s architects emphasised that all existing trees would remain, with pruning only where historical structures might be affected. The Nissen huts will be repurposed into greenhouses and a horticultural learning centre.

Minister Dalli stated, “The plans Project Green is presenting for Pinetum Gardens will create another open space for residents, visitors, and tourists to enjoy. The Agency is committed to preserving the garden’s historical elements while giving new life to the area.” Architect Jessica Galea added that the area would be well-cleaned, with galvanised iron fencing and lighting installed to enhance security.

On May 21st, Floriana Vice Mayor James Aaron Ellul shared a social media post highlighting the poor condition of Jubilee Grove. He reminded his followers that seven years ago, he had advocated for a motion to protect and elevate the importance of the Grove. Ellul had argued that the Grove should be transformed into a national park so that Maltese and Gozitan families could appreciate and enjoy its natural beauty.

Enemalta has issued a statement regarding reports of a power outage during an event in Ta’ Qali last evening. They clarified that the outage was not due to their distribution system.

Technicians and engineers from Enemalta promptly arrived at the scene and conducted inspections and tests on the substation supplying the Ta’ Qali national park. They confirmed that the power supply was functioning properly.

Tests indicated that the event organisers had requested less current than was necessary for the event. Enemalta reminded organisers that it is their responsibility to determine the required current and make the necessary preparations.

Even though the problem was not caused by Enemalta’s system, their technical teams on-site offered assistance to the organisers to help resolve the issue.

1 In 4 Adults Will Remain Single Their Whole Life

1 In 4 Adults Will Remain Single Their Whole Life

A new trend has seemingly emerged in the world of dating and relationships, and it’s that one in every four adults will remain single for the rest of their lives.

A study by the PEW Research Centre has revealed that at least one person out of every four will not get married or hitch up with a partner.

That means by the time young adults reach 50 years old, up to a quarter of them will never find their special someone.

Despite that, the same research suggests that these singles report higher levels of personal growth and self-determination that they’re coupled opposites.

What do you think?
