Action Needed Against Intolerable Heat In Prison Cells

Jul 10 2024 Share

Andrew Azzopardi, the Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing and former Head of the Department of Youth and Community Studies, has made a Facebook post informing the public about the unbearable heat the inmates have been facing.

In the post, he explains that there have been inmates who have fainted due to the heat whilst they are not allowed to remove their uniforms which are drenching with sweat. Fights between inmates have also broken out over who gets cooling.

These conditions are described as a breach of human rights, and heatwaves have not yet been experienced.

Fashion film ‘Devil Wears Prada’ to Finally Get Sequel

Jul 10 2024 Share

Exciting news for fans of the iconic 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada” – a sequel is reportedly in development at Disney. One of the original screenwriters, Aline Brosh McKenna, is in talks to write the follow-up. According to Variety, the sequel will follow Meryl Streep’s character, magazine editor Miranda Priestly, as she confronts the decline of print publications in the digital age.

US news outlet Deadline reported that the film’s original director, David Frankel, and producer, Wendy Finerman, are also in talks to return for the sequel. While it remains unclear how many of the original cast members will reprise their roles, fans are hopeful to see familiar faces.

“The Devil Wears Prada,” based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, became a box office hit, grossing $326.7 million worldwide. The story follows Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, as she lands a job as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the ice-cold editor of a major New York fashion magazine.

Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Priestly earned her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. The film was also a breakthrough for Hathaway and Emily Blunt, who played Miranda’s assistant Emily Charlton. In the sequel, Blunt’s character is said to have moved on to become an executive at a luxury group, with an advertising budget crucial for Priestly’s magazine.

Last year, Blunt and Hathaway reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, reflecting on their experience working with Streep. Blunt fondly recalled the joy of filming and the lasting impact of the movie on her career.

As the sequel takes shape, fans eagerly anticipate the return of their favourite characters and the new challenges they will face in the evolving world of fashion and publishing.
