In September 2024, Apple held its annual product launch event, titled “It’s Glowtime,” live-streamed from the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park. The event introduced the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch screen, while the Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch display. A notable addition is the customisable Action button, previously exclusive to Pro models.

Both devices are powered by the A18 chip, which drives Apple’s new Visual Intelligence, enabling users to learn about objects by simply pointing their camera.

New colour options include “Teal,” “Pink,” and “Ultramarine.”

Apple also announced the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, with 6.3 and 6.9-inch screens, respectively. Available in “Black,” “White,” “Natural,” and “Desert,” these models are optimised for Apple’s AI system, Apple Intelligence, with enhanced performance thanks to the A18 Pro chip.

The Pro models also feature upgraded cameras, including a 12MP telephoto lens and ultra wide camera.

Apple also launched the AirPods 4, which retain the same design but promise a more comfortable fit and improved audio with the H2 chip.

Additionally, the Apple Watch Series 10 debuted with a thinner design, a larger, brighter display, and new software features, while the rugged Apple Watch Ultra 2 received a new “Satin Black” titanium finish.

9,000 Persons Received Help From Victim Support Agency

9,000 Persons Received Help From Victim Support Agency
Sep 10 2024 Share

The Victim Support Agency, established three years ago, has provided assistance to 9,000 people, offering services such as guidance, emotional support, and legal aid to crime victims.

During an informal discussion with some beneficiaries of the agency’s services, Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Work, Byron Camilleri, highlighted the importance of these conversations to further improve the agency’s work.

Many of those receiving support are victims of domestic violence. Once a report is made to the police, the agency contacts the victim and, upon acceptance of assistance, professionals create a confidential therapy program with counsellors.

Therapeutic groups delve deeper into the emotional experiences of victims, and professionals also accompany them to court to provide additional support.

Minister Camilleri noted that the agency’s outreach efforts have led to more victims seeking help, reflecting the agency’s work to make services more accessible.

He also highlighted other specialised services aimed at making support more readily available, such as the Gender-Based Domestic Violence Unit in Santa Luċija, which opened in 2020 as the first multidisciplinary hub for victims.

Camilleri reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening these services for the betterment of the community. Agency CEO Brian Farrugia and Head of Services Superintendent Sylvana Gafà were also present at the meeting.

Sep 10 2024 Share

In a family video, Princess Kate announced that she has officially finished her chemotherapy and is cancer free.

The video has her and her family out in the woods together spending quality time as Catherine speaks about what this experience has taught her.

‘The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.’

‘With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.’

‘This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.’

‘Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.’

‘To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light so let that light shine bright.’
