Local TikTok page shortclips.malta gave Maltese viewers a glimpse of the historic inauguration of the Tritoni Fountain.
Constructed between 1952 and 1959, the fountain was officially unveiled to the public on 16th May 1959. It quickly became a cultural landmark, first serving as a stage for national celebrations under the theme Mill-Maltin għall-Maltin.

The fountain seen today differs from its original version, having undergone restoration in 2017 before being re-inaugurated in 2018, just in time for Valletta’s European Capital of Culture term.
The resurfaced footage captured the excitement of hundreds of Maltese people celebrating the fountain’s grand opening, with some even taking a dip in the water.
The nostalgic clips highlight the deep connection between the Tritoni Fountain and Malta’s history, showing how it has remained an iconic meeting point for locals and visitors alike.
