Permit Approved for 7,000sqm Bengħajsa Family Park Expansion

Permit Approved for 7,000sqm Bengħajsa Family Park Expansion
Oct 23 2024 Share

The Planning Authority has approved a 7,000-square-metre expansion of the Bengħajsa Family Park in the south of Malta. This project, led by Project Green, will bring the park’s total area to 27,000 square metres. The decision follows news of a separate approval for regenerating 20,000 square metres of land in Wied Inċita for public use.

Minister Miriam Dalli expressed her enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting the government’s focus on prioritizing open spaces over industrial development. The park, which opened in March last year, will now see new additions such as over 140 trees, including oak, carob, and laurel. Sustainable geogrid paving will ensure the park remains accessible, while new recreation facilities, including slides, will be installed using environmentally friendly materials.

Project Green CEO Joseph Cuschieri reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to urban greening initiatives across Malta, with several projects already underway.
