People caught having sex with animals should be jailed and fined

May 25 2021 Share

Opposition MP Mario Galea proposed a bill which will make bestiality illegal in Malta, stating that a sentence of jail time and a €6,000 fine should be in order. He cited that there is a lack of legislation on the topic. The current legislation only charges those found guilty with animal abuse.

Galea also defended animal welfare commissioner Alison Bezzina who argued that zoos should be considered a form of animal cruelty and faced a barrage of criticism following her statement.

MP Galea also read out several abusive comments made against Bezzina, stating that ‘these are pornographic comments.’ Galea called on the police commissioner to investigate those who posted the comments.
