80 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 63 recoveries

Malta has registered 80 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,811 swab tests, while 63 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

Today’s cases are still being investigated. From yesterday’s cases; 31 cases were family members of previously known cases, 8 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 8 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 3 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases and 1 case was from Paceville.

To date, Malta has registered 5,578 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 3,630 have recovered, 53 died and 1,895 are still active.

23% of catering establishments may be dismissing their employees

The Association of Catering Establishment has published the results to their survey which states that 23% will be dismissing a number of their employees while 45.3% are unsure if they will do so. 

These numbers are a result of the drastic drop in sales, partly affected by the recently-imposed reduced hours.

ACE stated that while budget measures were overall positive, their implementation is lacking in some ways and pressured the Government to take initiative in safeguarding businesses and their employees.

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson releases his first EDM song

Mike Tyson has knocked down his fair share of opponents during his illustrious boxing career.

However, the next challenge on his list seems to be music – as the 54-year-old has just released an EDM track with Los Angeles group Tiki Lau named “Mike Tyson”.

Rumours have emerged that this could be Tyson’s walk-out track for next month’s Jones fight, but only time will tell.
