8-month jail sentence for man who punched his partner

A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to eight months of prison time after injuring his partner following a heated argument over a necklace.

Sylvester Tabone and Anthea Grech are reported to have had an argument on the 6th of January 2019, where both parties claimed that they argued over a missing necklace, which Tabone alleged that Grech stole in retaliation for a previous argument.

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud remarked that he wanted to solidify the Court’s position on the situation, where it does not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

Total cases surpass 5,000 following 155 overnight cases

Malta now stands at a total of 5,026 cases following this afternoon’s report of another 155 cases in the past 24 hours.

The number of daily cases has yet to decrease despite the increase of preventive measures announced in the last public health conference.

Out of the 5000+ total cases, 1,649 of them are still active.

Malta has registered 155 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,823 swab tests, while 49 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

Today’s cases are still being investigated. From yesterday’s cases; 20 cases were family members of previously known cases, 8 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 12 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 14 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases and 2 cases were imported.

To date, Malta has registered 5,026 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 3,331 have recovered, 46 died and 1,649 are still active.

DJs in England are now eligible for up to £10,000 in grants.

Following Arts Council England’s announcement of a £257 million grant for arts and culture, the Council has created a scheme called ‘Developing Your Creative Practice’.

In this scheme DJs, performers, art educators, creative technicians and more are eligible for a grant ranging from £2,000 up to a maximum of £10,000.

This forms part of the £18 million total in grants for the following year, up until October 2021.
