8-0 Loss For Malta Against The Netherlands

Malta suffered a heavy 8-0 loss to the Netherlands in their second World Cup qualifier, played in Groningen.

The Dutch side, full of top players, scored three quick goals in the first 20 minutes, making it clear they were in control from the start.

This result matches their biggest-ever win against Malta, last seen in 1990. Malta coach Emilio De Leo made several changes to the team, including debuts for Gabriel Mentz and Jake Azzopardi.

But even with these changes, Malta struggled to handle the speed and skill of the Dutch.

Memphis Depay scored twice, with other goals coming from Van Dijk, Xavi Simons, Noa Lang, Micky van de Ven, and a brace from Donyell Malen. Malta had a few chances through Satariano and Guillaumier, but couldn’t break through.

Malta’s next match is against Lithuania on 4 September. Captain Matthew Guillaumier will miss it due to suspension.

Alessia and Michela had the opportunity to choose whether to stay coupled up with Keenan and Cruyff respectively, despite them not knowing if they would walk in with a Casa Girl.

That leaves the others – Diane, Evelyn and Yennifer – to choose what their next move will be.

Maksar Members Jailed For Life For Caruana Galizia & Chircop Murders

Maksar Members Jailed For Life For Caruana Galizia & Chircop Murders
Jun 10 2025 Share

Four members of the Maksar gang have been given jail for life for the murders of lawyer Carmel Chircop and journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Robert Agius, known as Ta’ Maksar, and Jamie Vella were convicted last week of supplying the car bomb that assassinated Caruana Galizia back in 2017.

Meanwhile Vella, along with Adrian Agius and George Degiorgio, were convicted of the murder of Carmel Chircop. Chircop was shot four times near his home back in 2015.

Madam Justice Edwina Grima handed the sentence, with six people having been found guilty or come clean about the role in the car bombing so far.

These include the bomb suppliers, the Degiorgio brothers as well as Vince Muscat and Melvin Theuma. The latter claims the murder was commissioned by Yorgen Fenech, who denies the charges.
