Last weekend, the Malta Police Force carried out approximately 30 road-check inspections across various roads in Malta, resulting in 60 drivers being fined for excessive speeding.
Around 800 vehicles were stopped, with police issuing multiple fines for breaches of traffic regulations.
These inspections form part of routine checks. Since 1st January, approximately 500 road checks have been conducted, during which thousands of vehicles were stopped and numerous fines issued. Among these, 750 fines were related to speeding offences.
Road checks were carried out across Malta and Gozo, with major inspections taking place on the Coast Road, Dawret St Paul’s Bay, and Garibaldi Street in Marsa. Some drivers were caught speeding at 113 km/h and 150 km/h in zones where the maximum speed limit is 60, 70, or 80 km/h.
The Malta Police Force has confirmed that routine road checks will continue in the coming days and months. Authorities are urging drivers to adhere to traffic regulations, emphasising the importance of road safety for both their own well-being and that of others.
