70 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 130 recoveries

Malta has registered 70 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,928 swab tests, while 130 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 23 cases were family members of previously known cases, 8 cases were contacts of positive work colleagues, 7 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 3 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 12,062 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 10,423 have recovered, 203 died and 1,436 are still active.

Couple investigated for tax evasion and charged with money laundering

A couple is being investigated for tax evasion as well as money laundering. The police found thousands of euro in designer items at their home in Mosta.

Clint Vella and Sylvana Fenech are a hairdresser and driving instructor. The police received a tip-off that they weren’t declaring their full income.

Vella once deposited €90,000 and stated that they were funds coming from online gambling. The couple’s wardrobes were filled with designer items and some of them even had cash in them.

Look out for Tenor Joseph Calleja tomorrow on Christmas TV special

Tenor Joseph Calleja will be featured on a TV Christmas special tomorrow by the name of ‘Calleja 2020’.

He will be singing various classics and popular songs all around the Maltese Islands s an ode to show Malta off at its very best and to put a smile on people’s faces.

Calleja 2020 will be aired tomorrow on TVM at 1 PM.

Castille christmas tree flooded with gifts for children in need

A government initiative left a Christmas tree in front of Castile, flooded with gifts for children in need.

The initiative was launched by the Prime Minister’s daughter, Giorgia Mae last Saturday and came to an end yesterday.

Many companies and families left gifts for children which will be handed to families with low income as well as Caritas.
