In a recent set of Instagram stories, local singer and influencer Karin Duff took a stand on body positivity, encouraging her followers to do whatever makes them feel good.

“Take the photos. Wear the leggings. Wear the croptop. Do what makes you feel good at the end of the day. Because the people passing the comments wish they had the courage to do so,” Duff wrote. Body shaming and low self-esteem are very real problems in today’s climate and oftentimes, one may find it difficult to be proud of the progress they made or gauge it by taking a photo every now and then.

The local singer went on to wrote “Normalise taking selfies, photos and videos at the gym. You get to see your progress over the weeks. And everybody does it. Videos help you understand what you’re doing wrong, and fix your posture during a particular exercise.”

At the very top of the last story, Duff revealed that someone saw her taking the selfie in the background and they laughed about it, shining a light on how light-hearted such situations could very well be.

Do you take selfies at the gym?
