Minister for Social Accommodation Roderick Galdes has announced that since 2017, 600 of the 1,117 social housing blocks underwent maintenance works, accounting for 54% of Malta’s social accommodation stock.
Galdes announced this while visiting Żebbuġ’s Ħal Mula area, where he provided a rundown of all of the works carried out around Malta and Gozo, reiterating the promise of regeneration of all of the country’s house blocks.
Another 61 housing blocks will have been regenerated by the end of the year and thanks to a collaboration with various local councils, the common areas of another 112 blocks will undergo maintenance work through an investment from the Regional Development Fund.
Galdes stated that the system “is a system that we are designing and implementing hand in hand with the community. As we are putting people before stone, we are really strengthening communities”.
