Meta Officially Launches AI App To Rival Chat GPT

Meta Officially Launches AI App To Rival Chat GPT
Apr 30 2025 Share

Meta has launched its Meta AI app, powered by its Llama 4 large language model, in a bid to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The app boasts an array of innovative features, including a Discover feed and full-duplex speech technology. The Discover feed introduces a social element, allowing users to view prompts, questions, and generated content shared by their friends and networks.

According to Meta, the app is designed to “get to know you” and provide more helpful and personalised responses. The full-duplex speech mode offers a natural voice experience, trained on interpersonal dialogue, and can be easily switched on and off.

Furthermore, Meta AI can tap into information users have chosen to share on Meta platforms, such as profiles and content they engage with, to deliver a more tailored experience.

The launch comes amidst concerns regarding data privacy, particularly after Meta announced plans to utilise public posts and comments from adults across its platforms to train its AI models in the European Union.

However, Meta assures users that they will have individual control over what personal data is used.
