Dr. Camilleri strongly condemned the acts, emphasising the need for greater respect towards police officers and all public servants. He also urged the courts to reflect the seriousness of such offenses in their rulings.
Meanwhile, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Reforms, Darren Carabott, addressed the incident, describing it as “another black day for the police forces of Malta.” Carabott not only condemned the violent actions but also criticized what he called the “lack of resources available to the Maltese police in such circumstances.”
In addition to his statement, Carabott shared videos of the evening’s events, revealing the shocking footage of civilians attacking police officers in Ħamrun.
As of yet, it has not been communicated whether any police personnel or other individuals were injured during the incident. Both political figures have called for urgent attention to the challenges facing the police force, with Camilleri stressing respect for public servants and Carabott pointing to the need for greater resources.
