43-Year-Old Man Dies After Losing Control Of Motorcycle In Isla

A man from Isla, aged 43, lost his life yesterday in a motorbike incident that took place on Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 5pm, the police were alerted to a traffic accident in Triq ix-Xatt Juan B Azopardo.

Malta Police force have revealed that the man had been riding a Honda motorbike when he lost control and collided with a bollard.

A medical team was called to the scene and provided assistance, but sadly, the man was certified dead at the scene.

Police investigations are still ongoing.

Sette Giugno, marked annually on the 7th of June, remains a key moment in Malta’s history, symbolising the nation’s early fight for self-determination.

University Of Malta Ranks Among The World’s Top 7.6% Of Universities

The University of Malta has achieved its highest global ranking in seven years, placing 1,622nd out of 21,462 institutions in the 2025 Global 2000 list by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

This positions UM among the top 7.6% of universities worldwidE 533rd in Europe.

UM has improved from last year’s rank of 1,705, despite more institutions being assessed, and remains Malta’s highest-ranked university.

CWUR’s rankings, released on the 2nd of June, are known for their objectivity and transparency.

UM’s strong performance enhances its global reputation and boosts the value of its degrees for both students and graduates.
