The Commissioner for Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence, Samantha Pace Gasan, has voiced concern over media claims framing domestic violence as a personal or family issue.

She warned that such narratives increase stigma and silence around abuse.

Emphasising that domestic violence is a public issue and a criminal offense, the Commissioner called for responsible reporting and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to raising awareness and supporting victims.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, make a report to the Police Station in Santa Lucia or Floriana or call on 179 or 116 006.
