400,000 vaccines officially administered in Malta as cases drop significantly

Malta has officially administered over 400,000 vaccines to its public, making herd immunity a very close goal indeed. 400,118 vaccines were administered in total today, of which 272,025 were first doses. Malta currently has 130,537 people vaccinated, with the vaccine rollout extending to over-16s next week. The active and daily cases have also dropped significantly, proving that the vaccine rollout met its intended goal.

With only 4 cases reported today and the number of active cases dropping beneath 200, health authorities have started to ease measures as the return to normalcy becomes more tangible. The vaccination rollout has also eased the tension on health care systems in Malta, but COVID-19 is still a very real threat. Authorities therefore remind the public to keep adhering to the health restrictions remaining so as to keep numbers low.

4 COVID-19 cases registered with 7 recoveries

Malta has registered 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 1,996 swab tests, while 7 patients have recovered. No deaths were registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Thursday 13th May 2021, 400,118 vaccine doses were administered of which 272,025 were 1st doses. 130,537 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 30,473 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 29,867 have recovered, 417 died and 189 are still active.

Long lines outside Paola Mosque despite COVID-19 restrictions

A video posted on Facebook group ‘Are you being served’ shows what seems to be large groups of people gathered outside Mariam Al-Batool Mosque in Paola. No authorities, police or LESA seem to be on site managing the situation. The person who posted the video claimed that despite having nothing against any religion or creed, this can only be considered as a mass activity.

Malta beats France to get back on top in Eurovision betting polls

After dropping to second place behind France, Malta has managed to fight its way back up into the betting polls at first place. Destiny’s ‘Je Me Casse’ has made international hits as many found the song itself, Destiny’s empowering message and the singer’s astounding talent to be worthy of winning the 2021 Rotterdam edition of the competition.

France’s Barbara Pravi is presenting ‘Voila’, and is currently behind Malta with a 15% chance of winning. Malta is at an 18% chance, with Switzerland following in third place with 10%. Destiny will have to get through the first semi-final night and then its onto the final showdown during the finals. But things are looking up for our talented ambassador as she rocks her rehearsals with electrifying presence.
