A recent survey referenced by The Times of Malta suggests that Alex Borg, a Nationalist Party MP from Gozo, is currently the most favoured candidate among party members to take on the leadership role.

The poll places him ahead of two well-known figures: former PN leader Adrian Delia and ex-MP Franco Debono, who were ranked second and third respectively. Delia secured 19.3% of support, while Debono received 8.8%.

The survey gathered the views of 500 Nationalist Party members. Just over 25% selected Borg as their preferred choice.

However, a significant portion of those questioned either expressed uncertainty or opted not to respond.

One in three said they were unsure whom they would back, and a further 9% left the question unanswered. Combined, this indicates that around 43% of respondents withheld a clear preference.

The poll was carried out between 14 and 16 June, coinciding with the announcement by Roberta Metsola that she would not be seeking the party leadership.
