Ġej is-Sajf! 5 reasons why you should wear sunscreen in Malta

Ġej is-Sajf! 5 reasons why you should wear sunscreen in Malta
May 26 2023 Share

Today is International Sunscreen Day and, naturally, if there is a country which definitely calls for the use of sunscreen, it’s Malta! If you plan on spending summer at the beach or out and about in the sun, there’s one essential item you cannot afford to forget: sunscreen. As the scorching summer heat bears down upon Malta, here are five compelling reasons why you should lather up with SPF and shield yourself from the intense Maltese sun.

Shield Yourself from the Intensity

Malta is renowned for its scorching summer climate, with temperatures soaring to incredible heights. The relentless sun can quickly turn your dream summer into a painful ordeal if you don’t take the necessary precautions. Applying sunscreen will create a protective barrier between your skin and the searing rays, preventing sunburn and reducing the risk of long-term skin damage.

Avoid the Unpleasant Consequences

Nobody wants to spend their summer nursing a painful sunburn or dealing with peeling skin. By applying sunscreen regularly, you significantly reduce the chances of suffering from sunburns and the uncomfortable aftermath. Don’t let sunburn ruin your fun – stay protected and enjoy your days to the fullest.

Defend Against Premature Aging

Malta’s scorching sun may be tempting for achieving a golden tan, but it also poses a threat to your skin’s youthfulness. The harsh UV rays can accelerate the aging process, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. By using sunscreen, you create a shield against these harmful rays, keeping your skin looking radiant and youthful for years to come.

Lower the Risk of Skin Cancer

Protecting your skin from harmful UV radiation is not just about preserving its appearance; it’s also about safeguarding your long-term health. Excessive exposure to the sun’s rays increases the risk of developing skin cancer, including melanoma, one of the most aggressive forms. Applying sunscreen with a high SPF can significantly reduce this risk and provide you with peace of mind as you soak up the beauty of Malta.

Set a Good Example

By diligently applying sunscreen in Malta, you become a role model for others, including friends, family, and fellow travelers. Educate those around you about the importance of sun protection and encourage them to join you in applying sunscreen. Your responsible behaviour can help create a culture of sun safety, ensuring everyone enjoys their time under the Maltese sun while staying protected.

So, before you embark on your exciting adventure to Malta, remember to pack your sunscreen and make it a daily ritual. Protect yourself from the scorching summer heat, preserve your skin’s health and beauty, and set a positive example for others. With the right precautions in place, you can savour every moment of your Maltese experience while keeping sunburns and long-term skin damage at bay.

Send this to someone to remind them to wear sunscreen!
