In the past year, the Ministry for Social and Affordable Accommodation launched three regeneration projects in the social housing areas of Marsa, Mosta, and Santa Luċija. These projects, supported by co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) totaling over €2.8 million, have significantly enhanced the living conditions for 445 residents across more than 50 social housing blocks.
Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes announced these developments during the inauguration of the third community project in Santa Luċija. He highlighted the project’s focus on improving accessibility, including the addition of ramps, tree planting, and the installation of solar panels to generate electricity for the area.
Minister Galdes emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing both quality of life and sustainability for numerous families through these initiatives. He reaffirmed the commitment to providing decent housing while ensuring a high-quality environment around social housing units. These efforts align with the government’s broader goal of inaugurating new social housing buildings and community spaces for the benefit of residents.
Santa Luċija Mayor Charmaine St. John was also in attendance at the inauguration, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance living standards and community well-being in the region.
