Surveillance efforts by different parts of the police corps concerning drug trafficking led to the arrest of a number of persons in St Julian’s.
The efforts took place on Friday and Saturday evening. After observations in various streets, three men were arrested from various sites.
The men were a 50 year old from Eritrea, a 32 year old from Mali and a 25 year old from India. The men had in their possession and ready for trafficking a number of substances suspected to be cocaine, cannabis and MDMA.
During the surveillance, one of the men approached under cover officers and offered them drugs, whereas another one attempted to escape during arrest but was kept from doing so.
The three men are being kept at the Floriana General Lock Up. During the same surveillance effort, police stopped five other persons who are being investigated on drug possession and immigration.
Investigations are still ongoing.
