Police arrested three men after, throughout last night, they allegedly fired shots in direction of each other.
It was at around 2230hrs that police assistance was called for in Triq Santa Klara, Naxxar.
Police convened on site and found a residence gate broken and persons on the inside.
Preliminary investigations show that a 41 year old man resident of Ħal Qormi allegedly drove and broke the gate with a vehicle. He reportedly exited the vehicle and fired some shots at the residence.
He later escaped the scene with the vehicle. At that time, two men and three women were in the residence and no one was injured.
A search was immediately started for the vehicle, a Mercedes, and the person involved.
At around 0230hrs, the man gave himself in to the police after going to the Qormi police station. The man alleged that some shots were fired at him from the residence, but he was not injured.
Further investigations yielded the vehicle of the 51 year old man in Triq il-Kosta, having sustained various damages. Markings compatible with firearms were found on the vehicle. No firearm was found in the vehicle.
The police returned to the residence in Naxxar and found a gun, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 64 and 35.
An inquiry has been opened as investigations are ongoing.
