29-year-old man from Hamrun sustains grievous injuries in Msida skatepark incident

Following news of yesterday’s incident at the Msida skatepark, the police have now revealed information on the incident.

The incident took place on Thursday evening at around 10:45pm in the Msida Skatepark, with the vehicle being a Smart car driven by a 29-year-old man from Hamrun.

The man reportedly lost control of his car to the point of overturning, with the car ending up inside the skatepark facilities.

The man was provided medical assistance by a medical team and escorted to Mater Dei Hospital via ambulance for treatment, where he was certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

Civil Protection Department Officials were also on site to assist with the situation.

Police investigations are currently under way.

An Msida car accident at around 10:30 pm this evening saw a car overturn and crash into the skate park.

Police and officers from the Department of Civil Protection convened to assist on the spot and get the driver out of the car.

Apple’s next iPhone will be using USB-C following EU mandate

It has just been confirmed by Apple leadership that, for the very first time, the next generation of iPhones will use USB-C.

This will be done to comply with the latest EU mandates which require that all phones across the bloc utilise the charger type and minimise electronic waste.

Apple’s senior of worldwide marketing Greg Joswiak said that ‘obviously, we’ll have to comply. We have no choice.’ This is because the new law currently dictates that all mobile phones and tablets have to use the USB-C come the fall of 2023.

The oval shaped plugs are already standard on other consumer electronics such as e-readers, games consoles, laptops and the vast majority of new Android phones.

Despite resisting the initial move to streamline the chargers for all devices, Apple is now conceding defeat. The EU mandate was pushed for by Maltese MEP Alex Agius Saliba. The move will save approximately 11,000 to 13,000 waste per year after the EU parliament approved the law.

Manchester United star Wes Brown explores Malta in 48 hours in new series

Manchester United Legend and Treble Winner Wes Brown is the face of a new campaign being launched today by VisitMalta and Manchester United – 48 Hours in Malta.

The campaign sees Wes Brown in Malta, battling the Maltese Summer heat and facing a series of challenges. These include rock climbing at Wied il-Mielaħ in Gozo, a cooking challenge, kayaking in Comino and more challenges in Mdina, with visits to the capital Valletta and a final stop at Fomm ir-Riħ.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the versatility of the Maltese Islands as an ideal destination for anyone, with plenty of activities that can be done, even if taking a very short break as a holiday.

A series of two videos will be launched in the coming weeks, documenting Wes Brown’s 48 Hours in Malta – videos which will also be shared across the entire Manchester United network all over the world.

Moreover, Wes Brown will also be participating in next month’s World Travel Market in London, which is the largest travel expo worldwide, where he will continue to tell all those present just how much there is more to explore when visiting the Maltese Islands.

“This is once again, another innovative campaign emanating from the MTA’s partnership agreement with Manchester United which will see Wes Brown also participating on the Malta stand at next month’s World Travel Market tourism exhibition in London,” Mr Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority said.

“Malta being the official destination partner of Manchester United is leading to Malta obtaining visibility and marketing coordination on an unprecedented level, not just in Europe but in other markets such as America, Asia and the Middle East” outlined Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.

This marketing is being done on television, digital media and social media and it is reaching millions of followers around the world. It is also helping in establishing Malta as a centre of excellence for sports tourism, a tourism niche which in 2023 is expected to continue assisting in the recovery of the tourism sector.”
