F Living host Karl Bonaci has stated on a live video feed that he will consider wearing a mask even after the health authorities announce that it is no longer mandatory. Referring to an anti-mask protest which occurred over the weekend in Sliema, he stated that the measure helped not only mitigate COVID-19 spread but even other common colds.

Bonaci highlighted the benefits of wearing masks, stating that countries which used them on a daily basis without the need for a global pandemic were doing something immensely safe and smart. He pointed out that he might still use them when he is on a bus or in large crowds of people, saying that we should all make ‘an effort or we will all suffer.’

As India is currently suffering due to a massive influx of COVID-19 cases and deaths, Malta has donated 20 oxygen concentrators to a hospital in India. The concentrators will be sent to Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi, India as they form part of Malta’s overseas development assistance programme. With India running out of oxygen supplies as well, this donation in association between the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Health Ministry, will help to save lives as the country has had 20 million reported COVID-19 cases so far.

Head of Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital Dr Dinesh stated that ‘oxygen is a basic requirement of a hospital and a consistent supply has not been assured. We are constantly firefighting.’
