According to new information released by the National Statistics Office, April 2023 saw a total of 266,798 inbound tourists. This is an increase from 194,545 in the corresponding 2022 month.
A total of 1,615,564 nights were spent on the island by tourists, with total expenditure surpassing €200.1 million.
The largest share of guest nights, at 83.9%, was spent in rented accommodation establishments. NSO revealed that inbound tourists in the first four months of 2023 amounted to 709,860.
The total amount of nights spent across the 4 months was around 4.5 million. The total expenditure for the four month period was approximately €512.5 million.
‘The largest share of inbound tourists were aged between 25 and 44 (38.5 per cent), followed by the 45-64 age bracket (31.2 per cent). Italian, United Kingdom, and French residents made up 48.8 per cent of total inbound tourists.’
