23.6% Decrease In Residential Property Sales In September 2023

In September 2023, there were 815 final deeds of sale and 1,026 promise of sale agreements for residential properties.

Compared to the previous year, final deeds of sale decreased by 23.6%, while promise of sale agreements increased by 5.3%.

The total value of the final deeds of sale in September 2023 was €227.8 million, a 9.1% decrease from September 2022. Of these, 749 (or 91.9%) involved individual buyers, amounting to €181.9 million, which represented 79.9% of the total value.

The districts with the highest numbers of final deeds of sale were the Northern Harbour District (261) and the Northern District (140). Conversely, the Western District and Gozo and Comino District had the lowest numbers, with 74 and 98 deeds respectively.

In terms of promise of sale agreements, 1,026 were registered in September 2023, a 5.3% increase from the previous year. Of these, 926 (or 90.3%) involved individual buyers, while the rest were mainly with companies.

In the third quarter of 2023, there were a total of 2,835 final deeds of sale, marking a 21.1% decrease from the previous year. The total value of these deeds was €783.2 million, an 8.9% decrease from the same quarter in the previous year.

The highest numbers of promise of sale agreements in Q3 2023 were in San Pawl Il-Baħar (288), L-Imsida (170), and Birkirkara (144). These figures represent an 8.2% increase from the previous year.

Bernard Grech Visits MCAST Fresher’s Week

This was the message conveyed by the Leader of the Nationalist Party, Bernard Grech, during his visit to MCAST in Kordin as part of the Freshers’ Week, where he emphasised that a clear direction for our students means a better country.

The Leader of the Nationalist Party, Bernard Grech, affirmed this with Net News after visiting the Freshers’ Week organised at MCAST in Raħal Ġdid, where thousands of students enrolled in their post-secondary studies after the summer break.

The students who spoke with the Leader of the Nationalist Party shared their thoughts and challenges, while others expressed gratitude for the work the Nationalist Party is doing to provide them with a better life in our country.

Accompanied by Deputies Bernice Bonello and Justin Schembri, as well as by the President of the Nationalist Party Youth Movement and candidate for the European Parliament elections, Miriana Calleja Testaferrata de Noto, and the candidate for the European Parliament elections, Peter Agius, the Leader of the Nationalist Party emphasised that our youth are not only the future but also the present.

‘Therefore, they need a robust economic model that offers peace of mind and high-quality jobs.’

Prime Minister Robert Abela Visits MCAST Fresher’s Week

Prime Minister Robert Abela emphasised the significance of the investment in the Center of Excellence at MCAST during his visit to the Freshers’ Week at the Raħal Ġdid campus.

This investment, said Abela, aligns with the government’s vision for the next ten years, prioritising innovation and vocational education as part of the changes happening in our country to ensure that young people have quality careers in Malta.

The Prime Minister noted that the ongoing investment in the Research and Innovation Center and the new ICT Institute will provide students with top-notch facilities to develop vocational skills and subsequently excel in MCAST, offering them the best opportunities that industries have to offer.

He emphasised that these changes aim to enhance the quality of life by investing strongly in the skills of Maltese and Gozitan youth, who will then bring value to their families and society.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of vocational education, emphasising that the government will continue to promote and support it through the establishment of the Crafts Center at MCAST.

This commitment is another electoral promise from the government’s ‘Malta Together’ program, which aims to improve vocational skills for students inclined towards this field.

Prime Minister Abela also stressed the importance of workers’ rights, ensuring that students and workers aspiring in this field receive the necessary training and dignity, as they are also contributors to an economy based on quality.

During his meetings with young people on the MCAST campus, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, Government Deputy Amanda Spiteri Grech, MCAST Principal Joachim James Calleja, and MCAST Student Council President Rohasia Zammit.
