Malta has registered 221 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,274 swab tests, while 191 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
As of Monday 22nd February 2021, 66,334 vaccine doses were administered of which 21,160 were 2nd doses.
To date, Malta has registered 21,306 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 18,500 have recovered, 306 died and 2,500 are still active.
Santa Venera minority leader for the PN Darren Carabott has called for a newly-built road in Santa Venera to be named after Miriam Pace, who lost her life when her house collapsed around 200 metres away.
Carabott explains that he spoke to Miriam Pace’s family for permission to put the proposal forward while four men are currently being accused of involuntary homicide.
The PN councillor stated that “justice for what this family lost can never happen” and that is why the road should be named as such while calling for a construction reform.

A sign outside Suq Tal-Belt – Valletta Food Market generated backlash on social media after refraining customers from bringing in their pet companions. Reading; ‘We love pets! But they aren’t allowed inside.
‘Please you can use tables outside’, the sign garnered attention which resulted in Facebook posts, ironically criticising the implications.
This generated online discussion with regards to the possibility of bringing in animals into such establishments, with customers not willing to enter due to the decision.
