Public health authorities have announced that the United Kingdom has been removed from Malta’s travelling red zone. Now placed on the amber list, travelling from the UK to Malta requires the traveller to present a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 72 hours before arrival. With this notice put into effect as of today Tuesday 27 April, those who do not present the test results will be tested on the island and may be subject to quarantine.

Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo stated earlier this month that bilateral talks between UK and Malta were taking place, considering a COVID-19 vaccine digital certificate in hopes of easing travel restrictions. With tourism set to restart on 1st of June 2021, the certificate would ease travel whilst ensuring safety for people from both countries.
