2020 marked the most excess deaths in the UK since WWII

Jan 16 2021 Share

The UK has registered the highest number of excess death rates since WWII.

697,000 deaths were recorded last year, 91,000 more than the average over the past 5 years.

Richard Murray, chief executive of The King’s Fund, said that,

“The UK has one of the highest rates of excess deaths in the world, with more excess deaths per million people than most other European countries or the US. It will take a public inquiry to determine exactly what went wrong, but mistakes have been made.”

6 Games That Literally Destroy Friendships, you need to play this week

Jan 16 2021 Share

We’ve all been wracking our brains trying to think of things we can do to pass the time during this particularly limiting time in our lives. Well, we’re sure you’ve thought of playing games as an option, but just in case you need a few ideas or a couple of reminders, you’ve stumbled upon the right place.

  1. UNO!
The renowned card game that has been breaking up families since 1971! For those of you who have an UNO deck lying around and some time on your hands, UNO is a go-to game that will keep you wanting more.
  2. Monopoly!
Well, we’re sure you’re all well-acquainted with Monopoly, the all-time relationship ending game. Although not everyone has the same opinion about the classic game, there’s no denying that you’re in for a night of full-on dealing, bad looks and (maybe) some laughter.
  3. Risk!
Risk is one of the best strategy games around. You can set out to conquer the world from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re playing with family or with friends you can expect to make a couple of rivals during gameplay. (After all, it is a war!)
  4. Mario Kart or Mario Party!
For those of you who are keener to play video games, we’re sure that playing Mario Kart or Mario Party will leave you quarrelling till the very end. Both games are extremely fun and they both pit you against each other from the very beginning. Grab your consoles, your best winning attitudes and battle the night away in style!
  5. 8 Ball Pool!
For those of you who are looking for a little nostalgia while you play, there’s always 8 Ball Pool. An online game you can play from the comfort of your own home with anyone you’d like. If you want to make things a little more interesting why not organise a tournament. (Warning: things may get a little too competitive).
