Two out of the four speed cameras planned for the Coast Road have been installed, with fines becoming applicable starting from 24th May. The Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA) stated that the other two planned are to be installed at a later date. The cameras were installed, according to LESA, following studies of the area and several board recommendations of multiple magisterial inquiries.
LESA pointed out that motorists will only receive a warning when exceeding the maximum speed limit until the set date of 24th May, from when fines will start to be issued. Fatal accidents have been known to happen on the Coast Road, and the cameras are one way to ensure people drive safely.
