2 men arrested during a robbery at a Qormi construction site

2 men have been arrested in relation to a robbery at a Qormi construction site.

A 31-year-old from Siġġiewi and a 30-year-old from Ħamrun were robbing equipment from a construction site when the police intervened this morning at around 12:30 AM.

A vehicle with keys in the ignition was spotted outside the construction site which was full of construction equipment. The car had stolen number plates and an expired license.

Investigations are ongoing.

Nestlé donates over 1000KG of food & clothes to charity

Nestlé held a charity drive last September for clothes donations from colleagues and customers alike.

For every kilogram of clothing donated Nestlé pledged to donate the same amount in Nestlé food items.

Nestlé said in a press release that they have,

“distributed all clothing collected through the initiative to children, teenagers, men and women in need across the island. Meanwhile, Nestlé Malta also worked together with Malta Foodbank Lifeline Foundation throughout November to distribute the more than 1000 kilograms of food pledged by Nestlé Malta through the initiative to local charities.”

121 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 127 recoveries

Malta has registered 121 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,512 swab tests, while 127 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 42 cases were family members of previously known cases, 11 cases were contacts of positive work colleagues, 9 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 12 cases were from social gatherings.

To date, Malta has registered 15,079 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 12,250 have recovered, 235 died and 2,594 are still active.

21-year-old arrested for vehicle arson and possession of cocaine

A 21-year-old male has been arrested in connection with vehicle arson in Tarxien and possession of cocaine.
The man was arrested late on Tuesday night in Valletta.
The car was set on fire on the 31st of December in Tarxien and after investigations and arrest, the police found 31 bags of suspected cocaine in the offenders’ car.
The male in question is to be taken to court today.
