A shocking incident unfolded at the iconic Mosta Dome when a tourist was witnessed kicking a pigeon with full force down the steps. The bird, now affectionately named Pirate, had simply been minding its own business when it was attacked.

According to an eyewitness, the distressed pigeon curled up in a corner after the incident, clearly injured. Thankfully, a member of the public saw what happened and stayed with the bird until the Malta Rangers Unit arrived on site.

Rangers were dispatched promptly after being alerted, and Pirate was safely retrieved and taken into care.

While pigeons are not classified as a protected species, this does not excuse acts of cruelty. The Malta Rangers have strongly condemned the incident, emphasising that all animals deserve respect and humane treatment.

Pirate is now receiving the care it needs and is expected to make a full recovery.
