Active cases drop to 100 after 2 new COVID-19 cases & 22 recoveries

Malta has registered 2 new case of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,234 swab tests, while 22 patients have recovered. No deaths were registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Wednesday 19th May 2021, 445,830 vaccine doses were administered of which 293,178 were 1st doses. 158,489 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 30,491 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 29,974 have recovered, 417 died and 100 are still active.

Local chefs presented Michelin Guide award from Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo

On Wednesday, Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo took to Facebook to express his honour in awarding the prestigious Michelin Guide honour to some of Malta’s best chefs.

The Minister went on to state that this is a clear example of the importance of advocating Malta’s gastronomical sector, going on to award chefs from De Mondion Restaurant, Under Grain, ION – The Harbour, Bahia Restaurant and Noni Restaurant for the second edition of the Michelin Guide for Malta.

Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Dr. Gavin Gulia highlighted how the Michelin Guide is a step in the right direction for Malta’s quality restaurants, going on to applaud the five restaurants who were singled out for their sustainable practices.

Air Malta adds four new destinations to its June flight schedule

Air Malta will reintroduce flights to Lisbon, Munich, Prague and Vienna into their national airline schedule, culminating into 51 weekly flights to 15 destinations from June.

The national flight schedule illustrates that Munich flights will operate five times a week, with Lisbon, Prague and Vienna flights operating twice a week each.

Air Malta chief commercial officer Roy Kinnear stated that while the flight schedule remains significantly less than Summer 2019, the airline remains committed to adapting its network and enhancing connectivity.

Malta registers record 8,000+ vaccinations in just one day on Wednesday

Malta broke another vaccine record on Wednesday after registering over 8,000 vaccine doses in just one day, Health Minister Chris Fearne announced on Wednesday.

As of Tuesday 19th May, Malta registered a total of 437,654 vaccine doses, of which 289,855 were first doses with 152,581 fully vaccinated citizens.

The Health Minister went on to encourage Maltese citizens to register for their vaccine jab via vaccin.go.mt as Malta continues its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
