Fast Ferry suspended as heavy wind warning issued
Apr 21 2023 Share

A yellow heavy wind warning has been issued by the Meteorological Office as Friday kicks off the weekend with intense East Northeast winds hitting the islands.

The same warning was issued by other weather portals like Facebook page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’, with the GozoFast Ferry suspending services for the day due to the wind’s impact on the sea and transportation.

The wind is expected to climb to Force 7, being particularly chilly as well as being considerably dusty as it churns up desert sands. The winds are expected to die down by Saturday as the rest of the weekend continues.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to be mainly sunny with temperatures feeling like 18 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively.

So if anyone is inclined to go have a dip at one of Malta’s many beaches, you might want to wait it out today until the wind dies down and the spring time sunshine gives us a taste of the upcoming summer.

In a statement, the Prime Minister highlighted how the German company, which was has been based in Malta for 50 years and employs more than 450 people, will continue to create more opportunities apart from the 140 newly created employments due to the extension.

The company is also, said Abela, employing more people from Malta whilst also increasing the skill set in technical fields like engineering.

On her part, Minister Miriam Dalli said that she is proud of the investments being attracted to Malta and how it will be investing a further €9 million to expand the business in Malta whilst diversifying into manufacturing of electronics.
