Heavy traffic near Salini and Kennedy Grove: social media rage

Heavy traffic near Salini and Kennedy Grove: social media rage
May 8 2023 Share

Heavy traffic is being reported near Salini and Kennedy Grove due to ongoing roadworks in the area.

Last week, the Water Services Corporation reported a road closure to be established between the 8th of May and 15th of June in part of Triq is-Salina, Naxxar.

On the morning of the day the road closures were set to begin, heavy traffic was instantly reported as people commuted to various destinations around the island.

Facebook page Maltese Roads Traffic Updates warned commuters of a gridlock in the area, urging drivers to either avoid or re-route.

The grid lock has reinvigorated calls for better transportation options around the islands, which have grown in recent months.

‘An island the Size of a postage stamp just can’t handle all these cars’ said one. ‘My heart goes to all students sitting for their Matsec Exams’ said another.

Another doubted whether rerouting could be an option due to a lack of access to certain areas except through the currently gridlocked roads.

The Scout Association of Malta and the Malta Girl Guides are two of the biggest voluntary organisations in Malta, and welcome 4% of kids on the islands to teach and provide service.

The parade took place yesterday, Sunday 7th May 2023, and saw various young members march down the capital city to showcase the work they’ve been doing during this past year.

Minister for Inclusion and Voluntary Work Julia Farrugia Portelli and Minister for Culture Owen Bonnici also shared some snapshots from the event, admiring the youth for their participation and the organisations for their hard work.

Were you a member of the scouts when you were younger?

Well done to all involved!
