Fearne went on to state that this is without the AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be put into effect on Friday and ramp up the inoculation process.

Series of investigations launch following leak of X-rated video

Feb 12 2021 Share

The recent leak of a Maltese woman’s X-rated video has triggered a series of events and local investigations and may have developed an increased consciousness of the power of media and the negative effects it can leave on society.

After Siġġiewi FC players were caught publicly viewing the video and laughing at Kebab Factory, the Msida restaurant will no longer be sponsoring Siġġiewi while head coach Trevor Thomas has resigned from his post, expressing solidarity with the victim.

Police investigations have also been launched into the illegal sharing of the video, as the video was not in fact sent to someone but leaked following hacking of the woman’s phone. Maltese law states that anyone caught sharing the video is liable to a €5,000 fine and up to two years in prison.

Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech took to Facebook to express solidarity with the victim of the act and call upon national unity stating that ‘we need to grow up and take care of each other’.

Our message

Media is a powerful thing and it has the potential to destroy as much as it can create. One seemingly ‘minor’ act can trigger chains upon chains of events which may be critical to someone’s life.

As a media user, you carry the responsibility of safeguarding someone else’s reputation and mental wellbeing. For you, it may be a few seconds of ‘entertainment’, for others it could be years of irreparable damage.

Break the chain.
