Malta has registered 154 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,282 swab tests, while 148 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Thursday 18th February 2021, 59,702 vaccine doses were administered of which 19,199 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 20,563 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 17,827 have recovered, 301 died and 2,435 are still active.

Peppi Azzopardi calls for justice for jailed cannabis growers

Following the arrest of a couple on Valentine’s weekend for cannabis use and Prime Minister Robert Abela’s announcement to present a draft law on cannabis regulation, various local figures have tackled the subject of cannabis use in Malta.

Amongst others, popular media personality Peppi Azzopardi called upon the Prime Minister to ask whether or not justice will be given to individuals who had been incarcerated for growing cannabis at home.

Malta Weather have forecasted median temperatures across Malta and Gozo and slightly warmer weather than usual which will last for at least a week.

They have reported a high, 80% confidence rate in the forecast.

Team Start president Eve Borg Bonello stated that the branch recognises the victims of this tragedy, who were allegedly ‘sacrificed for the economy’ as part of the government’s COVID-19 road map.

The branch called upon the government to respect and recognise the right for human life as it is the pillar of Maltese democracy.
